Point of time in the series from which the characer is taken: Tobi, like a majority of the Akatsuki, appears after the “Save Gaara” arc, which, in Naruto anime terms, means he is a Shippuuden-only character.

Sexual Orientation: Unknown (though I ship and write him with Deidara, so…that should say what I HOPE his orientation is).

Personality/Canon facts:  (SPOILERS SPOILERS EVERYWHERE) Tobi is really a conundrum. Found wandering around Grass Country by Zetsu ( the soruce of that oft-quoted, “Tobi is a good boy”), he is eager to join the Akatsuki, and winds up taking Sasori's place as Deidara's partner. He cloaks himself in mystery (hur hur)—the only part of him that’s visible is his short, spiky hair, and, more recently, the sharingan eye concealed behind his swirly orange mask with one eyehole (hence leading many to believe he is Obito—this is speculation, of course, particularly at this point in the manga, where signs are pointing toward Uchiha Madara as a possible candidate for Tobi’s true identity).

 

The thing that I find the most appealing—and frightening, really—about Tobi is that he is able to slip back and forth between two completely different personalities with ease, fooling even those closest to him (like Deidara, and perhaps even Zetsu). When we first meet him, he’s a show-off (albeit a flighty one), taking credit for things he didn’t do as well as falling asleep on his superiors (*cough*DEIDARA*cough*) in the middle of a lecture on proper conduct. He’s silly, overdramatic, and a little air-headed, just a genuinely harmless guy (Akatsuki aside)…

 

Or so we thought.

 

Turns out, Tobi’s not what he seems at all. He’s the head-honcho, the guy even Pein, the leader of Akatsuki, has to answer to…the mastermind of the entire organization. Which begs the question…who is he, truly, and why is he so bent on proving the power of Uchiha Madara’s bloodline?

 

Anything else important about the character?: I think you get the gist. He’s a master manipulator. XD (I do believe both personalities serve a purpose, though, and, unlike a lot of the fandom, I am not convinced he is entirely “evil” so to speak, nor do I think the space-cadet is gone for good…he’ll be back. 8D) In any case, part of the reason I want to RP as Tobi is for the fun of mixing both personalities, though I’ll probably favor the sillier version. *grin*

Wow...what a weird place! How did I...oh that doesn't matter. As long as I can find my way back, because Deidara-senpai will get mad at me if I screw up the mission.

Where is Deidara-senpai, anyway? Did he put my name on my bags for me? That was nice of him. I guess he knew I was going somewhere before I did. Maybe...this is part of the mission? That must be it! I won't fail, senpai! I'll write down everything I see--

Oh, a bird! Er…sorry. Parrot. Excuse me, Mr. Parrot. Want a cracker? Do parrots eat crackers? I remember reading somewhere that they do—No? What…sake? I don’t have any sake. I don’t have any crackers either…unless Deidara-senpai packed me some.
